Telemedicine
The Eceptionist platform supports all telemedicine activities and processes with it’s
Telehealth Manager module. Eceptionist’s Telehealth Manager supports virtual and store
and forward telemedicine models.
Because of Telehealth Manager’s unique facilitation of the transfer and storage of medical
images (e.g., DICOM, CT, MRI, X-RAY, etc.), photographs, documents, notes and other
material, specialists are able to securely (via 128 bit encryption) review patient
records – 24/7 from any Internet connection – and make diagnoses that are immediately
transmitted to those that need the information.
Virtual Teleconsults
For virtual teleconsults, Telehealth Manager gives organizations the ability to manage
all of the complex scheduling associated with setting up a virtual teleconsult,
including:
- Specialist (Hosting/Hub Site Doctor)
- Host Site
- Host Site Room
- Host Site Equipment (e.g., cameras, Codec, etc...)
- Referring Physician (Requesting/Spoke Site Doctor)
- Referring Site
- Referring Site Room
- Referring Site Equipment (e.g., cameras, Codec, etc...)
- Patient
- Network Resources (e.g., Bridge, Gateway, etc...)
- Bandwidth
Telehealth Manager also supports multiple time zones such that all users can schedule
virtual teleconsults in their local time. In the U.S., TRICARE Region 9 uses Telehealth
Manager to connect the Naval Medical Center in San Diego with more than 40 regional
Department of Defense sites for purposes of scheduling virtual teleconsults. In Italy,
TelBios, Telecom Italia’s e-health company, uses Telehealth Manager to run a network that
covers Europe and the Middle East.
Store and Forward
With store and forward telemedicine, Telehealth Manager delivers several benefits to a
healthcare organization:
- Increases the number of patients that can be seen
- Organizations can set up and define store and forward referral patterns to maximize resources and minimize cost
- Patients are diagnosed and treated faster because specialists can review the patient record without the delay caused by having to coordinate schedules with patients

Telehealth Manager is presently used in the United States, Europe and the Middle East
as a store and forward telemedicine platform for radiology, diabetic retinopathy,
dermatology and pathology. In the United Kingdom, the National Health Service (NHS)
uses Telehealth Manager to remotely diagnose patients on a store and forward basis.
MDT & Virtual Meetings
Eceptionist’s Telehealth Manager can also be used to set up and manage many types of
virtual meetings including multi disciplinary team meetings (MDT), conferences,
educational sessions and training events that organizations provide to their customers
and networks. With this functionality, organizations are able to:
