TELECARE INTERNATIONAL TO USE E-CEPTIONIST SCHEDULING SERVICE
HOUSTON, TX - TeleCare International has signed an agreement with E-Ceptionist, Inc. and will begin using the real-time Internet based E-Ceptionist™ scheduling service to make health care appointments, the company announced today.
The service is being used to support TeleCare's telemedicine system both in the United States and overseas. E-Ceptionist will allow the member facilities to schedule appointments with specialists over the Internet in real-time.
"This agreement allows us to schedule our network of specialty care physicians with patients from around the world," said Kim Dunn, M.D., Ph.D., President and CEO of TeleCare. "We look forward to our affiliation with E-Ceptionist, which has an excellent reputation and an impressive list of nationally recognized clients. E-Ceptionist is clearly poised to become the leader in the health care scheduling industry," Dunn added.
"We are excited about the opportunity to work with TeleCare and to begin to tap into the overseas markets," said an E-Ceptionist representative.
E-Ceptionist enables TeleCare to shift away from the traditional "hub and spoke" model to a "virtual Web" network in which any primary care site can link to any available appointment time at any specialty facility. This allows TeleCare to maximize the utilization and benefit of their member doctors.
Another E-Ceptionist representative stated: "The TeleCare deal demonstrates E-Ceptionist's healthy and vigorous growth at a time when the vast majority of Internet based companies are headed towards extinction. The alleged competitors announce joint ventures while we announce paying customers."
TeleCare International is changing the way quality health care is delivered to patients who would otherwise go under-treated by using a specialized network that puts doctors and patients together via high-speed teleconferencing equipment. This allows specialists to observe, diagnose and treat patients from one location while they consult with a specially trained health care professional, who is with the patient, at another location.
TeleCare is located in Houston, Texas and boasts a core team of doctors and health care professionals led by President and CEO Kim Dunn, M.D., Ph.D. The company strives to offer world-class health care to rural sites in Texas, the United States and around the globe.
E-Ceptionist, Inc., (http://www.eceptionist.com), founded in May of 1999, is a privately held company located in Bellaire, Texas. The company owns and licenses the E-Ceptionist scheduling service that allows doctors and patients to schedule health care appointments in real-time over the Internet. The service is secure and encrypted and the privacy of patient information is protected. E-Ceptionist can be embedded in an organization's existing Intranet site or set up as an Extranet to give an organization real-time scheduling functionality. The service allows primary care office staff to identify available specialist appointment times by specialty type, day of the week, time of day, physician, and other custom criteria. It also provides real-time electronic confirmation and notification of appointments between the primary and specialty physicians and the health plan.
E-Ceptionist, Inc. currently provides the E-Ceptionist scheduling service to WellPoint (NYSE: WLP) on behalf of its affiliate, Blue Cross of California, as well as to the United States Military's TRICARE Region Nine.
